Description

This Tres Hombres Rum Ed.65 is a real “English style Rum” made from molasses at the Foursquare distillery in Barbados.

Origin and distillation

Pot distilled from molasses at the Foursquare Distillery in Saint Philip, Barbados, this rum has rested in bourbon barrels for 8 years.

This brown English style rum was picked up by the sailing freighter Tres Hombres in 2022 to finish maturing in Calvados and Pedro Ximenez barrels. These 5 months at sea have ensured that this fantastic rum has had time to acquire a characteristic “Tres Hombres” finish. With the ship constantly moving, the Calvados and Pedro Ximenez barrels have intensified the flavor of the rum for an unforgettable finish.

What does English Style Rum mean?

English style rums are originally from English colonies such as Barbados but also Jamaica or English Guyana, and are known for their quality and aromatic richness.

On these islands they make rum from molasses, a syrupy by-product of sugar production, and not directly from sugar cane juice. Also matured for a medium or long period, these brown rums are often darker and more powerful than other types of rum.

Tasting notes

This rum also combines very well with our Tres Hombres Chocolate!

Design

The drawings on the labels of our 2023 editions were made by a Tres Hombres crew member.

Bottling

Last but not least, this rum was bottled at Storkerij Amsterdam with the help of the Tres Hombres Team.

Each bottle of rum is sealed with a natural cork which is colored with beeswax. This makes the origin of the rum easy to recognize by the color of the bottle. To achieve this result, the wax is mixed with color pigments. These are milled from natural raw materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, the Netherlands.
