Description
This Tres Hombres Rum Ed. 61 is a “ron tradicional” made from pure and organic sugar cane, mixed with 5% local honey.
Origin and distillation
The distillation was carried out with care by the Aldea distillery on the island of La Palma, which is part of the Canary Islands. The sugar cane at the origin of this rum is produced in an organic way on Aldea's own fields. This means without fertilizers or pesticides that can harm the environment or our health. 5% of this rum consists of delicious local Spanish honey has been added to this special rum to give it an extra sweet taste.
After maturing for 6 months on the island, this rum was picked up by the sailing freighter Tres Hombres in 2022. The rum made its journey at sea in Armagnac and Cognac barrels. Then, another 6 months later, the ship arrived in Amsterdam and this fantastic rum had time to get a characteristic “Tres Hombres” worthy finish. Because the ship is constantly moving, the Armagnac and Cognac barrels have intensified the flavor of the rum for an unforgettable aftertaste.
What does “ron tradicional” mean?
Traditional rum is the type of rum produced on the island of La Palma. The rum is made from locally grown sugarcane that is pressed into sugarcane syrup called "guarapo". This is fermented in the distillery of Ron Aldea and then distilled. It closely resembles French-style rum but has its own name "ron tradicional".

Design
The drawings on the labels of our 2023 editions were made by a Tres Hombres crew member.
Bottling
Last but not least, this rum was bottled at Storkerij Amsterdam with the help of the Tres Hombres Team.
Each bottle of rum is sealed with a natural cork which is colored with beeswax. This makes the origin of the rum easy to recognize by the color of the bottle. To achieve this result, the wax is mixed with color pigments. These are milled from natural raw materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam, the Netherlands.
